Your Desktop, A Risky Place For Docs!

It has a popular sight gag in movies and television to have  someone over in a window, or turn on a fan and have all the paper on someone’s desk blown all over the place.  Just like in real life, your virtual desktop on your computer can be just as risky place to store your important documents.

Just today I had a client contact me urgently because all it is precious documents, and folders full of documents which he was in the habit of keeping right on his desktop we’re gone.  Here’s what happened.

Safe keeping for Downloaded Purchased Software

Okay you just spent nearly $400 on Microsoft’s office professional 2007.  And you purchased the download option because who wants to wait? You have broadband access for a reason and downloading software is one of the benefits. You install the software and it’s really great, but wait, before you go any further it is time to do a very important task.

Burn the downloaded program installation files onto a CD or DVD for safekeeping. Don’t put it off to tomorrow, chances are you’ll never go back to it. Don’t believe for a second that you are immune to computer failure.

Now that you have a burned copy of that $400 investment, where are you going to put the disc? Don’t Lose Your Precious Memories! BACKUP!

Happy New Year!  I’m sitting here with our cat Greyson in front of a warm wood stove reviewing all the pictures and videos of the good times Patty and I had over the holidays!
