SEO done properly still offers the highest return on investment compared to any other Individual web marketing tool, but don’t be in too big of a hurry to run out and hire an SEO company quite yet! The online marketing game has changed and there’s something that you need to do first that can increase the value of your SEO strategy by 70% or more. That’s what I’m going to explain to you in this post.

First of all, I’m sure you’re already aware of the fact that SEO is about being found. That’s what search engines are used for after all to find us what we ask for.  In fact, Google’s mission statement is something along the lines of,

  3. a good reputation,
  4. or a five-star reputation.

of course, I don’t need to tell you that the one that will serve you the best is the five-star reputation. Just because you don’t have one already doesn’t mean you’re not deserving of it. Remember, your SEO company, whoever you choose to hire, is not likely to point this out to you. But think about it for a moment as a Consumer, not a business owner and your common sense will tell you that your reputation needs to come first so that when they find you they’ve already been given a reason to trust you!

Because:

  • We don’t have to sell them.
  • They’re  already pre-sold by our other customers.
  • They already know us, like us and trust us.

The power behind the truth of those four items is something called social proof. Which is something that only comes from satisfied customers. The folks over at Nielsen showed us that reviews posted online by other consumers are almost as trusted by other consumers as a personal referral from a friend, relative or associate.

Hire an Seo company after Marketing and managing your reputation

Here’s another reason why hiring an SEO company should come after your reputation. If you can refer to a five-star reputation online in all your other less trusted types of marketing, which is probably where you spend the most of your marketing dollars,  that increases the trustworthiness of that marketing to the 70% trust level. All marketing drives the consumer’s toward your online reputation. If you have a Five Star one, it turns them into…wait for it ….REFERRALS!

If increasing the trustworthiness of all your traditional marketing efforts to a 70% trust level among consumers simply by marketing your five-star reputation isn’t a compelling enough reason for not hiring an SEO company until after you market and manage your five-star reputation then I give up, you win even if you’re non reputation fueled marketing won’t!
